  • May 6, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – The State of Florida is trying new methods to ensure people are prepared for the upcoming hurricane season.

Chief Financial Officer, Blaise Ingoglia, announced on Tuesday that he’s sending crews door-to-door. His staff will pass out information about how to prepare for a storm and what to do in the aftermath.

The information will also include important numbers about utilities and how to spot and report fraud.

Florida politics:

Ingoglia says it is important to prepare residents before a potentially life-threatening storm.

“We spend a lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of resources putting our communities back together after a storm,” he said. “I think we need to start a more proactive role in this to mitigate this to where it’s not costing endlessly.”

Hurricane season begins June 1.
