HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – Crews battled fierce flames after a fire broke out overnight in a home in Hollywood.

Hollywood Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the blaze at 6780 Harding St., just after 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“There’s a house on fire,” said a caller in a 911 call.

“Do you see flames or smoke?” said the dispatcher.

“Flames, flames, it’s flaming,” said the caller.

Cameras captured massive yellow flames illuminating the residential block where the house is located, as the fire tore through the property.

“Some guy says ‘It’s a fire! It’s a fire!’ said a resident. “And my husband says ‘Don’t go out, don’t go out,” My other son, my stepson goes to open the door, ‘No no, go watch if it’s a fire or not. He goes and says ‘Yes mom, yes dad, it’s a fire.’”

Crews spent hours at the scene, as they extinguished the flames and hot spots.

“Oh, the fire is coming. I say ‘Oh my God, we lost the house, we lost the house, we lost the house.’” said the resident.

“This house had heavy flames coming from not only from the roof, but also multiple windows,” said Hollywood Fire Rescue Chief Jeffery Levy.

7 Drone Force hovered above firefighters as they doused the flames from the ground and heavy smoke blanketed the block.

“Firefighters made frantic attempts to try and get inside to ensure that nobody was inside. Unfortunately, we were not able to get inside due to the extreme heat and the fire conditions.” said Levy. “Hollywood Police Department were able to run the tags on the cars, get in touch with the owner, and confirm that there was nobody inside.”

Meanwhile, neighbors tried their best to protect their properties.

“Me and my dad were in the backyard, and we were just hosing down everything around us so that it wouldn’t spread.” said a neighbor.

After daybreak, 7News cameras showed the extent of the destruction.

“I’m so lucky, thank God,” said a resident.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time the fire started. No firefighters were hurt.

Fire crews told 7News that the fire jumped to a neighbor’s Jacuzzi, but firefighters quickly put out the fire and prevented the spread.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
