Employers identify and connect with candidates using FSU Law’s free online services
Jennifer Heckman urges legal employers throughout the state to take advantage of FSU Law’s free online services that allow employers to post jobs and collect resumes, making it easier to for employers to identify and connect directly with candidates to schedule interviews. Florida State University College of Law is inviting legal employers across Florida to connect with its students and graduates through free, flexible recruitment programs.
“The legal hiring landscape has changed,” says Jennifer Heckman, director of employer recruitment in the FSU College of Law Office of Career Services. “Employers recruit earlier, hire on a rolling basis, and increasingly rely on direct application processes. FSU Law’s Office of Career Services has adapted alongside those shifts and remains a ready resource at every stage.”

For employers seeking to recruit through structured programs, FSU Law hosts virtual and hybrid interview programs in spring, summer, and fall for law students seeking summer clerkships and 3Ls or recent graduates pursuing entry-level positions.
2026 Summer Interview Program:
June Session: Virtual interviews June 23–26 (Employer registration deadline: May 18)
July Session: Virtual interviews July 28–29 (Employer registration deadline: June 22)
2026 Fall Interview Program:
August Session: Virtual Interviews August 18-21 (Employer registration deadline: July 20)
September Session: Hybrid Interviews September 15-30 (Employer registration deadline: August 24)
October Session: Hybrid Interviews October 1-16 (Employer registration deadline: September 7)
Legal employers consistently report that FSU Law students enter the workforce with a high degree of professionalism and practice readiness, according to Heckman. She attributes this to the extensive hands-on training students receive through clinical programs, externships, simulation courses, and practical skills experiences that mirror real-world practice.
Heckman also encourages legal employers to engage with FSU Law’s student community beyond hiring.
“Attorneys can serve as mentors, participate in career panels, or take part in events focused on practice area exploration and professional development. These connections strengthen the profession and help shape the next generation of Florida attorneys,” she says.
