Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a frightening armed home invasion in Florida over the summer that was caught on camera, authorities said.
The home invasion happened back on Aug. 19 in Odessa, north of Tampa, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Surveillance footage released by the sheriff’s office on Monday showed the victims getting out of their SUV in their home’s driveway before two men approach.
One man, who’s wearing an orange reflective vest, grabs the woman on the passenger side, while the second suspect, wearing what appears to be a hoodie and a mask, grabs the man on the driver’s side.
Authorities said the suspects forced the victims into their garage at gunpoint but fled when an alarm was triggered.
Detectives later found an AirTag tracking device taped under the victims’ vehicle.
One suspect, 26-year-old Luis Charles, was arrested in Tampa on Oct. 8, authorities said.
The second suspect, 32-year-old Odardy Maldonado-Rodriguez, was arrested in Pasco County on Friday.
They were booked into jail and face charges including armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery, and armed kidnapping to commit a felony.
“To be ambushed at gunpoint in the very place you should feel safest is every family’s worst nightmare,” Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Thanks to the work of our detectives, these dangerous criminals are now behind bars where they belong, and the victims, along with our community, can rest a little easier.”
