TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – A small dog seen on video being abused in Tampa last month has died of its injuries, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
On April 30, around 8:20 p.m., Real Time Crime Center cameras saw a woman throwing a dog across a road twice, forcefully causing him to hit the asphalt. The video also showed the woman kicking the dog.
Deputies responded and transported the dog to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center where he received emergency medical care and was treated for a broken leg.
Deputies arrested Imania Davis, 33, on six charges of aggravated cruelty to animals.
The sheriff’s office said Davis was seen on camera picking up a small white dog by the scruff of the neck and throwing it twice on asphalt.

“This is a deeply upsetting case that has impacted our entire community,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.
Chronister visited the Pet Resource Center Wednesday to personally thank the veterinary staff for their efforts.
“What this innocent animal endured was cruel, violent and unacceptable,” he said. “I am also grateful to everyone at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center and the veterinary staff who did everything they could to care for this dog and give him a chance to recover.”
