Participants, known as “Guardians of the Flame,” will carry the torch in support of Special Olympics and its mission of promoting acceptance and inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Officials said the flame will be passed to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at the end of the route.

Minor traffic impacts are expected, and drivers are asked to use caution and be patient in the area.
