We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mariellen Timmreck. Check out our conversation below.

Mariellen, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
If I were a potential client of mine, I would absolutely hire me!

Aside from my level of professionalism and extensive knowledge, I am very much others-focused. Naturally an Empath with a Servant’s Heart, I primarily seek to address the needs of those I serve in an individual manner and always consider the person & their desires/needs first.

Whether coaching, mentoring, or counseling, my focus is what the individual specifically needs versus implementing a “cookie-cutter” approach. Through our sessions, my clients and I create a direction and plan that works best for their situation and tailor services accordingly.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
1C Coaching is a business that serves the community both locally and globally through Nutrition, Personal Training, and Life Coaching services.

1C ultimately developed out of a single moms ministry that I founded in 2009, subsequently growing out of my own life experiences and desire to “fill in the gaps” where other organizations & businesses lacked.

My primary concentration is meeting the needs of “the least of these” community of single moms & their children and lower-income, yet also cater to those outside of the aforementioned demographics.

In my desire to better serve the needs of current and future clientele, I recently returned to college to obtain my Psychology degree to become a Licensed Counselor.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child growing up in an abusive, neglectful, and chaotic single mom home, I had developed the belief that I was unlovable, unworthy, and unseen.

Being physically and/or emotionally abandoned by both of my parents led me to believe that there most be something wrong with me for them not to want me. Never hearing the words “I love you,” “I’m proud of you,” “I accept you” and never being hugged by my parents caused a severe degree of self-confidence.

Growing up in “lack” caused me to seek out other ways to feel cared for and/or to numb the pain… alcohol, sex, and other “defiant” or “risky” behaviors became my go-to methods.

However, as an adult, I have since healed from my past trauma and have learned that I AM worthy, loved, accepted, valuable, and cared for. It’s been a long journey but I am grateful for my healing and seek to help others discover the same.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were many times when I almost gave up!

I have suffered with situational depression for most of my life due to past trauma and perceived failures. In those moments, I have often contemplated and/or attempted suicide in my desire to “just make it all go away.”

Though initially feeling like a failure, I am now thankful that I was not successful in my attempts!

Healing through my faith and my community of friends has helped to allowed me to discover my purpose and to become that much stronger.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
A belief that I used to hold tightly to but now know is now naive or wrong is that there is only ONE way to address wellness.

Whether it be in our personal or professional lives, in fitness, nutrition, or life in general, or in relationships with others and/or yourself…there is always more than one way to find resolution!

We are not machines! We are individual human beings with individual circumstances, varying exposure to “nature vs. nurture,” and different bodies & thought processes.

We deserve to be seen as such and not corraled into the same boxes as others.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story that I hope people tell about me when I am gone is that I loved others well and helped them to feel seen, heard, and understood.

My desire is to leave a legacy of kindness and generosity to.those in my sphere of influence and beyond.
