PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The medical office building at the FSU Health campus has added multiple providers so far this year.
A primary care physician moved in this week. Earlier in the year, an OB-GYN was added. More providers are expected as the year moves on, with dermatology and an outpatient pharmacy on the way.
The future FSU Health hospital is being built along Highway 79. The hospital should have around 180 beds once completed.
With the hospital expected to be operational in 2028, FSU Health and TMH executives are starting to consider who will occupy the building.
“From a physician point of view, and, you know, we’ve already gotten calls, and we’ve reached out to potential physicians and advanced providers across the country, and some of that activity is actually starting sooner than some of the other hospital-based staff, just because I think some of those recruitments are a little bit more challenging,” said Andrew Starr, president of the western market of TMH. “Obviously, we will have to look outside of the immediate area for some of those professionals.”
Starr said the providers who have already moved into the campus are seeing patients from beyond both Walton and Bay counties. He said that highlights the need for health care in the Panhandle.
