Universal Orlando has confirmed the closure of two restaurants inside Islands of Adventure theme park and a change in hot-dog offerings at Universal CityWalk.

Mythos, a table-service restaurant, will shut down in 2027 as part of the phased closing of Lost Continent in favor of a new (but not yet announced) themed area. This will happen in the “coming months,” Universal said in a news release. The restaurant, which faces the park’s central lagoon, had a claim to fame as being voted “best theme park restaurant” by Theme Park Insider readers for multiple years.

Across the park, Thunder Falls Terrace, an eatery within Jurassic Park area will close this summer. It wil turn into a newly themed “signature full-service restaurant” and  is expected to open next year. The space is adjacent to the splashdown area of Jurassic Park River Adventure, which is currently closed for refurbishment.

Lost Continent, Mythos and Thunder Falls Terrace were all part of IOA’s opening-day lineup in 1999.

The removal of Lost Continent has been years in the unmaking.  Part of the original land was absorbed by the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which opened in 2010.  It once featured “The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad” stunt show, which closed in 2018, and Poseidon’s Fury, a darkened walk-through experience with special effects, which was shuttered permanently in 2023.  In September, Universal Orlando said construction work was moving forward in the Lost Continent area, but it did not reveal a theme or a timeline.

Meanwhile, Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice will join the lineup at Universal CityWalk, taking over the space of Hot Dog Hall of Fame, which is set to close in July. The Hot Dog Hall of Fame has operated at CityWalk since 2014.

Fat One’s was founded by Joey Fatone — the ‘N Sync singer, actor, TV host and former Universal Studios theme park performer — and his manager Joe Mulvihill. This business was launched at Florida Mall in 2016.  Other planned CityWalk additions include a Five Guys location (taking the Whopper Bar spot) and Luke Combs’ Category 10, a new-build multi-level entertainment venue facing the water.
