Caleb Gordon, a 26-year-old Christian hip-hop artist from Ocoee, is set to perform at Rolling Loud on Sunday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, the festival’s only U.S. stop.“I’m super excited,” Gordon said.Gordon, an Ocoee High School graduate, has performed at Rolling Loud before. Reflecting on that experience, he said his sound cut out during part of his set, but he didn’t let it affect his performance.“I’m not going to let that stop the vibe,” Gordon said. “This time, since it’s in Orlando, it feels like redemption. I get to really show what it’s supposed to be. People can see you can have faith and still bring that energy.”Known for blending trap beats with faith-centered lyrics, Gordon brings high energy to the stage.“It’s about to be crazy,” he said. “I’m going to turn it all the way up. Most of them aren’t from here, so they don’t know — it’s like home-field advantage.”Gordon recently collaborated with Nate Caldwell, director of chorus at Ocoee High School, on a music video for his song “God Is By My Side,” highlighting his hometown roots. Both Gordon and Caldwell graduated from Ocoee High.“I’ve been here for four years, building up the choral program,” Caldwell said. “Working with local alumni is a great way to keep the culture going and build something new.”Gordon said giving back to his community is a major motivation.“When I was that age, I didn’t have anyone come back for me,” he said. “Now I get to show up for them and be what I didn’t have.”For Gordon, his music is about faith, encouragement and inspiring others.
