In the wake of the collapse of Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, the world’s largest carrier is adding new nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles. The flight will initially run five times weekly beginning in November, but will be bumped up to twelve flights weekly in December and two daily flights in March 2027.
Spirit Airlines had flown Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles nonstops since 2006. JetBlue currently serves the route five times daily and Delta has a daily red eye (they will also add Palm Beach to Los Angeles this fall with a single daily flight). In the last two years, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines have pulled off this route, so United saw the opening.
The flight will be operated with a 737-MAX9 aircraft.
