TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee mother is putting out an emotional plea to drivers this Mother’s Day weekend to watch out for motorcyclists on the road.
Kris McElhenny was killed in a crash at the corner of Capital Circle and Centerville Road 24 years ago today.

His family teams up with Lamar Advertising each year to put up billboards with his picture on them – to remind drivers to look twice and spare other families the pain they’ve experienced.
Kris’ mother, Tina McElhenny, said they hope the billboards encourage drivers to be more aware of motorcyclists on the road.
“People don’t realize how that changes your life. How empty…when you realize all he’s missed out on, but also look at all we’ve missed out on. I just wish people would realize that when they’re driving and pay more attention. That’s all we’re asking is pay attention,” she said.
The billboards are up at five locations around town for the next few days.
