CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A 56-year-old man died in a crash on Veterans Boulevard late Friday night.
Authorities closed Veterans Boulevard for hours overnight as a result. The road has since reopened.
Troopers were sent to the scene just before midnight. The crash happened on Veterans Boulevard near Wylam Drive.
Florida Highway Patrol says the 56-year-old man was driving a white minivan. They say, for unknown reasons, the van veered left abruptly, crossing the grass median and driving into head-on traffic.
The van sideswiped an SUV carrying a 39-year-old man and a 1-year-old child. Neither were hurt.
The 56-year-old man crashed into a guardrail twice and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
