Onslow County school officials say two Jacksonville middle schoolers were given unknown Candy by a student on Wednesday morning.

One parent says she rushed her child to the hospital, where she was told he had an accidental overdose from THC gummies.

Never seen my baby like this.

Regina Parker rushed to Jacksonville Commons Middle School on Wednesday after learning her son had fallen ill.

He was sluggish, he was drained. It was all over his shirt all over his pants. I’ve never seen a child throw up like that.

Parker then took her son to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with an accidental overdose.

She says it was then that she learned her son, along with another student, had taken THC gummies unknowingly inside the school bathroom.

Did he ever tell you where he got the gummy from?A mutual friend.

Onslow County Schools released a statement Friday afternoon, confirming the incident.

Stating the school’s resource officer is currently investigating who gave the students the gummies, stating, ‘disciplinary consequences will be applied as appropriate.’

But Parker says acknowledgment is not enough.

Let’s learn from someone else’s mistakes, teach these kids what the dangers are. This is serious. I could’ve lost my kid.

We also spoke with the other parent involved; both she and Parker felt as though the paramedics should’ve been called due to their son’s condition.

News 12 has reached out to Onslow County Schools asking why the paramedics weren’t called, as well as how they educate students on the dangers of drugs, and whether they will host informal sessions following this incident.

We have yet to hear back. We’ll continue to follow this issue and keep you updated.
