TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida State softball completed its impressive ACC season on Saturday afternoon, beating Virginia Tech 2-1 to win its 20th conference championship.
The Hokies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after a wide throw to first by Isa Torres. The play was ruled a hit and an error, Torres’ first of the season.
The Seminoles strike back with two runs in the second. The first run came via a double by Kennedy Harp. Harp scampered home shortly after on a passed ball, and Florida State took the 2-1 lead.
Virginia Tech’s best chance to go back in front came in the sixth. The Hokies loaded the bases with two outs, but the ACC pitcher of the year, Jazzy Francik, forced a soft lineout to end the threat.
Francik dazzled in the circle, pitching six innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six. She earned the win, improving to 22-2 this season.
The Seminoles will learn their NCAA tournament fate in the selection show on Sunday at 7 p.m.
