MK Studios, the team behind the recently released Porto Airport v2, has just revealed its next project: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (KFLL), one of the busiest airports in South Florida and a major gateway for leisure and low-cost traffic up and down the East Coast.
The announcement came via the developer’s Facebook page, where they also confirmed that Miami International Airport (KMIA) is already in active development.
That’s a big double reveal. KFLL alone would be newsworthy, but pairing it with KMIA shows that MK Studios has serious ambitions for the South Florida corridor.
The highway and railway underneath the runway
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International has a runway with both a highway and a railway passing directly underneath it via tunnels, a configuration that’s pretty rare in commercial aviation and a recognisable quirk for anyone who’s driven or taken the train to the airport in real life. MK Studios says the feature will be modeled, which is a great detail.
The developer also promises what they describe as “incredible attention to detail” and “richly handcrafted surroundings,” consistent with the approach they’ve taken on recent releases.
The release timeline
MK Studios says KFLL will be out before FSExpo, and they’re planning to attend the event in person to showcase it. FSExpo 2026 takes place in late June Saint Paul, so that gives a rough window: sometime before the end of June. That’s not far off.
It’s worth noting that KFLL isn’t a complete blank slate in the MSFS ecosystem. LatinVFR released a version of Fort Lauderdale back in 2021 for MSFS, which has been the go-to option since. More recently, VerticalSim put the airport back into active development after originally cancelling it in 2025, so it looks like simmers may soon have two new options for KFLL in relatively quick succession.
And then there’s Miami
KMIA being in active development is also a major story here, despite being a bit buried in the announcement. Miami International is one of the most important airports in the United States for international routes, particularly to Latin America and the Caribbean. No release window has been given, but the confirmation that it’s in active development alongside KFLL is good news for simmers who fly the region.
MK Studios hasn’t announced pricing or a store listing yet. More details are expected as the FSExpo deadline approaches.
