FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Inside Fort Myers Florist, the sounds of Mother’s Day weekend filled the shop Sunday morning — scissors cutting ribbon, bouquets being wrapped, and delivery drivers heading out the door with flowers for moms across Southwest Florida.
Mother’s Day is one of the busiest holidays of the year for florists, and staff at Fort Myers Florist said preparations for the rush begin long before May arrives.
“We start preparing the day after Mother’s Day,” store manager Jean Marie said. “It takes a full year to prepare to be able to send love to all these mothers.”
The shop had 33 delivery drivers on the road Sunday morning, with many making multiple trips throughout the day to keep up with orders.
While some customers planned ahead, others waited until the last minute — and many turned to delivery services like DoorDash to make sure flowers still made it to mom on time.
Workers spent the morning arranging bouquets, organizing deliveries, and helping walk-in customers searching for gifts just hours before Mother’s Day celebrations began.
Despite the nonstop pace, Jean Marie said the shop prepares every year for the inevitable last-minute rush.
“We also prepare for that,” she said with a laugh.
From roses and lilies to colorful mixed bouquets, arrangements continued heading out the door throughout the day as families across Southwest Florida celebrated moms.
Fort Myers Florist said Mother’s Day remains one of the biggest days of the year for business, with deliveries going out across the region from sunrise until the shop closed Sunday afternoon.
