Families across Central Florida spent Sunday celebrating Mother’s Day with flowers, brunches and time together with the women they love most.Along Park Avenue in Winter Park, families filled the sidewalks, restaurants and parks, enjoying the warm weather and each other’s company. For many, the day was less about gifts and more about making memories.For Alex Zelman, Mother’s Day meant watching her children laugh and play together.“Just letting the boys run around and having fun, so I love it,” Zelman said.She said motherhood has given her a deeper appreciation for life’s everyday moments.“It’s pretty special to be responsible for someone else’s life,” she said.Catherine Love said being a mother has brought joy and meaning to her life.“I have a life full of love,” Love said.Rather than planning anything extravagant, Love said her family focused on spending quality time together and appreciating the small gestures that make the holiday meaningful.“We show each other how much we love each other … hang out, enjoy the roses that husband got me,” she said.Many families spent the afternoon walking through Winter Park, dining outdoors and participating in community events.Shannon Tomaszewski said she spent the day attending yoga in the park with her mother before stopping for matcha and cookies along Park Avenue.“We’re just taking a stroll through the park,” Tomaszewski said.She described her mother as more than a parent.“My best friend, life partner, soulmate,” Tomaszewski said. “Just happy to spend time together today.”For many Central Florida families, the simple act of being together was the highlight of the holiday.
