Surveillance video in Sunrise captured a multi-vehicle crash that left a driver dead and sent several others to the hospital early Sunday.
Sunrise Police officials said they received reports of a multi-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of University Drive at around 3 a.m.
In the surveillance video obtained exclusively by NBC6, several cars were seen side-swiping each other, which caused sparks to fly and left a cloud of smoke.
One of the vehicles then crashed into a pole.
One of the drivers involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene, while other people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver’s identity was not released.
The crash shut down the southbound lanes of University Drive for several hours but the area has since reopened.
An investigation into the crash remains underway.
