A Tampa police officer was relieved of duty and faces DUI charges after a traffic stop Saturday night.

The Tampa Police Department says Kevin Casazza, an off-duty probationary officer, was arrested just before midnight while driving on I-275.

Casazza, who was hired last year, was “immediately relieved of duty,” TPD said.

“This incident is deeply disappointing,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Every employee, on or off duty, is expected to hold themselves to the highest standards. That also includes our officers abiding by the same laws they swore to uphold.”

Tampa police will conduct and internal investigation into Casazza’s arrest.
