TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Mother’s Day flowers remain a tradition for many families, but customers may have noticed higher prices this year as florists face rising costs for supplies and delivery.
Rebecca McGuffey with A Country Rose Florist in Tallahassee said her business has seen an increase in freight costs, with many flowers shipped overseas before arriving in Tallahassee.
“We may not be able to get the exact flower, depending on supply chain issues and things like that, but ultimately, we are going to deliver something beautiful to mom,” she said. “It doesn’t stop what happens; we’re going to continue moving forward.”
McGuffey said they have a local flower farm in Tallahassee to help supply some of the flowers used in arrangements.

High fuel prices are also driving up delivery expenses during one of the busiest weekends of the year.
McGuffey said her staff made about 500 deliveries Saturday alone ahead of Mother’s Day. Despite the higher costs, she said the shop remains focused on making the holiday special for families.
“Just seeing their faces light up, it’s just an amazing time for us,” McGuffey said.
