FORT LAUDERDALE (May 11, 2026)- Avianca the flag carrier of Colombia is adding increased emphasis on South Florida in its network in the wake of the collapse of Spirit Airlines.
The airline is adding a second daily Bogotá–Fort Lauderdale flight and increasing Barranquilla–Miami service to daily operations, with both routes starting June 1, 2026. Both routes were flown by Spirit. Last week JetBlue announced new Cali/Barranquilla-Fort Lauderdale services to replace Spirit on those routes to Colombia.
The expansion supports Avianca’s broader U.S. network, where it already operates more than 400 weekly flights across 14 Latin American cities and over 80 destinations in the Americas and Europe.
Bogotá – Fort Lauderdale: An additional daily frequency will be added, for a total of two flights per day.
