TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man who was shot and killed overnight Saturday in the parking lot of a pool hall in Tallahassee has been identified.
The victim was identified by Tallahassee Police in a statement Monday afternoon as Jatives Moate. The Sylvester, Georgia man was 34 years old at the time of his death, according to his online obituary.
Moate’s identification comes just a couple of days after police initially announced in a press release early Saturday morning that officers responded to the shooting, which occurred just after 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Pockets Pool and Pub, located in the 2800 block of Sharer Road.
In its statement, the police department revealed that officers who responded to the scene said a man, later identified as Moate, was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Life-saving measures were attempted, however the male died as a result of the injuries he sustained,” police said.
Just a day after the shooting occurred, the local pool hall shared a statement on social media Sunday afternoon, saying that “while this incident did not occur on Pockets’ property, we understand the concerns and emotions surrounding the situation.”
As of Monday afternoon, no arrests have been announced, but Tallahassee Police said they are tracking down all leads.
