Does it seem like there are more Chipotle locations in Florida? In some good news for burrito fans, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. has been expanding quickly, with about 40 new locations in Florida since January 2025, according to a comparison with an archived list.
The fast-casual Cal-Mex chain known for fresh ingredients and customizable meals has opened 49 new company-owned restaurants just in the first quarter of 2026, according to an April 29 earnings call. And another one opened in Orlando on Monday, May 11. Many of them feature the company’s Chipotlane, a drive-thru pick-up lane that allows diners to pick up online orders.
The Orlando location also offers the popular chain’s new protein menu with items ranging from 15 to 81 grams of protein per item, including the limited-time Chipotle Honey Chicken and Cilantro Lime Sauce.
Other new locations opened this year in Melbourne, Middleburg, Pensacola, and St. Augustine, with more planned for Jacksonville, Palm City, Pinellas Park, Fort Pierce, and Odessa.
Chipotle opened between 315 and 345 new restaurants in 2025 and plans to open 350 to 370 new restaurants in 2026, an official said in the call.
The chain and its partners operate more than 4,100 restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Middle East as of March 31. In 2023, Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright, then the Chief Restaurant Officer, said the “aggressive growth plans” included a target of 7,000 locations, CNBC reported.
Chipotle brought in $3.1 billion in the first quarter of 2026, a 7.4% increase over the same period last year, despite recent complaints that portions are too small. Boatwright recently said in an interview that hungry customers “should ask for a little more,” saying their brand ethos is “big beautiful bowls and burritos. Full stop, no questions asked.”

Is Chipotle hiring?
Yes. New Chipotle locations hire approximately 30 people, according to an email release. Benefits include a crew bonus with the opportunity to earn an extra month’s worth of pay each year, a debt-free college program, access to mental healthcare for employees and their families, and more.
As of May 11, the company hopes to fill nearly 700 positions in Florida, including four general managers and an area manager.
What is Chipotle Mexican Grill?
Chipotle prides itself on its menu of just five customizable items: burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and salads. Diners choose a base such as cilantro‑lime rice or lettuce, then add proteins like grilled chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas or vegan sofritas and add beans, vegetables, salsas, cheese, sour cream and guacamole.
The company also boasts that it uses fresh food, with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives (or can openers) and only 53 ingredients, all of which “you can pronounce.”
“The only ingredient that is hard to pronounce at Chipotle is ‘Chipotle,’ the site says. “(It’s Chih-poat-lay, by the way).”
Chipotle was launched in Denver, Colorado, in 1993 by Steve Ellis, a line cook who was inspired by the taquerías and burritos he saw in San Francisco. After its initial success and an investment from McDonald’s, the chain spread rapidly across the U.S. and into other countries.
The company has received some criticism over the high sodium content of some of its offerings, but Chipotle has also garnered praise as a healthy fast food option. Chipotle also offers vegetarian selections.
