TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M University graduate Oluwamodupe Oloyede is continuing her rise after making history as the first female head drum major of the famed Marching 100.
Since breaking barriers with the band last year, Oloyede has stepped onto one of entertainment’s biggest stages, performing alongside the cast of “Sinners” during this year’s Oscars ceremony.
“I was like, wow, this is the same stage that I used to watch as a girl,” Oloyede said. “Crying to my mom, saying I need to be on the stage.”
The recent graduate also joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and landed a new endorsement deal with the hair care brand Head & Shoulders. Her commercial debuted just days before graduation.

Oloyede said authenticity was important before attaching her name to any brand partnership. As a hair stylist, she said she’s happy to promote a product that all women can use.
“I didn’t want my name attached to something just for clout,” she said. “I wanted it to be a part of something that was real.”
She said the opportunities surpass anything she imagined when she started her journey at FAMU, and she believes faith and hard work have guided her path.
As she reflected on her senior year, she said she’s humbled and grateful.
As for what’s next, Oloyede said more opportunities are already in the works.
