This May, water safety takes on a bigger meaning at the Key Biscayne Community Center.
As part of this year’s Junior Lifeguard Challenge, our focus is not only on helping kids become more confident and capable in the water, but also on learning how to help others.
In that spirit, we’re hosting a Goggle Drive throughout the entire month of May in support of the Miami Bridge Shelter for Homeless Youth. The goal is simple, help give more kids the opportunity to have a positive and safe experience in the water this summer by getting as many goggles and masks as possible into the hands of kids who could really use them.
So, if you have an extra pair of goggles or a mask at home that you’re not using, or if you’re open to picking up a new one, please bring it by the Community Center anytime this month. We’ll take care of the rest.

A Key Rat, Coach Iggy is a fixture at the Key Biscayne Community Center as the Coach, along with his brother Gaby, of Team Key Aquatics (TKA), the Village’s swimming and water sports academy. An avid surfer, Coach Iggy travels annually to El Salvador to surf.
