Florida State women’s golf shoots 3-under in round one of Tallahassee Regional

  • May 12, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After one round at the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, Florida State women’s golf sits tied for second place, two strokes behind the Florida Gators.

The Seminoles began the round on the back nine at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.

It was a solid day for Florida State. Despite leaving several birdie putts inches from the bottom of the cup, the team did what they needed to stay in contention.

Florida State’s number one golfer, Sophia Fullbrook, led the way. She finished the round tied for second in the individual standings at three-under.

“We all played solid, but I think we all know that there’s plenty more chances. We’ve all gone lower than we did today,” said Fullbrook. “I’m proud of my start and how I bounced back.”

Haruhi Nakatani impressed in round one, as well. The first-year Seminole fired a 2-under 70. She was bogey-free on the second nine, just two strokes off the lead.

Head coach Amy Bond is proud of what her team accomplished in round one.

“I just asked them in our team meeting, ‘how many of you guys were really nervous on the first tee today?’ All five of them raised their hands, yet striped beautiful tee shots down the tenth. That’s big for me and it’ll be big for them. And I wanted to make them aware [that] all five of them did it even though they were nervous,” said coach Bond. “We held it together really well. So, to sit where we are right now, I am thrilled.”

The first Florida State group will tee off on hole one at 8 a.m. on Tuesday for round two. They will be paired with Florida and Wake Forest.
