Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is the hottest name in college football as coaching rumors abound with the openings at both Florida and LSU.

With his name seemingly at the top of every coaching search, ESPN’s Pete Thamel suggested it’s difficult to imagine Kiffin coaching at Ole Miss in 2026.

“Right now, it’s hard to imagine Lane Kiffin coaching at Ole Miss next year,” Thamel said. “The opportunity at either LSU or Florida is too big… It’s going to be a fascinating race here for Lane Kiffin and to see how he handles it with a playoff team.”

Kiffin, though, appears to be preaching patience. With four weeks left in the Rebels’ regular season, the head coach took to social media with a subtle message as the coaching rumors grow louder with each passing day.

“If they walk away, let them. If they misunderstand you, let them. If they gossip, judge or doubt, let them. You don’t have to chase. You don’t have to explain,” the message on social media read.

“You don’t need to fix it – let them do what they do – and you do what brings you peace. Protect your energy. Focus on your path. Release the need to control. If it’s meant for you, it won’t require force. You are not too much. You are not too little. You are just not for them – and that’s okay.”

As a major decision looms for Kiffin his former boss, longtime Alabama head coach Nick Saban, gave some advice to his former offensive coordinator.

“Jobs that weren’t great jobs before are now. Lane is the first name up for Florida and the first name up for LSU, but I think you can have a long debate on whether either one of those jobs is actually better than the job he has now because he has some guys over there at Ole Miss that give him pretty much whatever he wants from a roster standpoint,” Saban said.

“Maybe you’ve got alumni who are passionate about football, but are they willing to invest what you have to invest now to win? Because a lot of people don’t believe in this [expletive].”

Ole Miss closes out the regular season against South Carolina, The Citadel, Florida and Mississippi State.
