School closures are quickly approaching in the Tampa Bay region

Some schools are closing at the end of the academic year because of declining enrollment and budget concerns. Schools like Cross Bayou Elementary and Disston Academy are shutting their doors.

Tampa Police apparently illegally shared arrested minors’ names

Twenty-two people were arrested during a ‘teen takeover’ of Curtis Hixon Park over the weekend. TPD shared the names of minors who were arrested, including that of a 12-year-old.

The Bradenton Beach Police Department remains active

During a special meeting, dozens of residents and officers pushed back against outsourcing law enforcement to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

In Collier County, residents hope a lawsuit will stop a development threatening the Florida panther

Collier residents say rapid development is changing some of the last remaining Florida panther habitat.
They filed a lawsuit along with the Southwest Florida Wildlands Association against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

UCF commencement speaker booed for praising AI

A University of Central Florida commencement speaker faced some backlash after she called AI “the next industrial revolution” during a ceremony over the weekend. Some of the graduates who booed at the speech told the Orlando Weekly Gloria Caulfield felt like a “corporate mouthpiece.”
