Officials continued the fight against a pair of fires burning in South Florida amid extreme drought on Monday, May 11.
Drone footage captured by Robert Ziady shows the state of the fire in Broward County on Monday.
“I headed out to Everglades Holiday Park today to capture some aerial footage of the smoke and fire conditions from above,” Ziady wrote on Facebook. “Shortly after, they issued a mandatory evacuation for the park.”

As of Tuesday morning, the Max Road Fire was an estimated 11,339 acres in size with 70 percent containment, according to the Florida Forest Service.
The National Weather Service, meanwhile, forecast “heavy rain” in parts of South Florida on Tuesday, which was expected to help firefighting efforts. Credit: Robert Ziady via Storyful
