Initial reports indicated that the crash was on the interstate. However, as crews were on their way to the area, dispatchers provided them with an update, saying the vehicle involved had gone over the side of an overpass.
Authorities said the car plummeted nearly 30 feet, landing in the southbound lanes of Kings Highway.
Three people who were inside the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital as trauma alerts. No other vehicles were involved, according to first responders.
The Florida Highway Patrol and St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the crash.
Officials have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to go off the overpass.
