DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – According to multiple Miami County officials, a firefighter has voluntarily resigned and is facing several charges for alleged child sexual abuse material (C-SAM).

Miami Valley Fire District Chief Steven H. Johnson said 23-year-old Austin J. Johnson was employed by the MVFD and voluntarily resigned on May 4.

“We were made aware of potential legal proceedings in Miami County and once we were able to confirm that Fire Fighter Johnson had multiple indictments in Miami County Court, per our policy and CBA, he was immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave. He was placed on leave on March 12th, and we have had minimal contact with Austin except through email since that time,” wrote Chief Johnson.

Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak confirmed Fire Fighter Johnson is facing charges.

“Austin J. Johnson, age 23, of Union Township, was indicted by a Miami County Grand Jury on several counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.  The investigation was conducted by Sheriff’s detectives,” wrote Sheriff Duchak.
