The Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort has always attracted an in-the-know crowd for delicious cocktails and breathtaking sunsets on its hip rooftop, Escape, and for excellent coastal Italian cuisine at La Fuga, the lobby-level restaurant. Both spaces welcome guests with great musical entertainment and nightly specials on cocktails and food. Here’s what’s new and ongoing this spring at the hip and happening hotel.

NEW DISHES AT LA FUGA

Award-winning Chef Michael Mayer is always coming up with new ways of sharing his immense knowledge and palate when it comes to Italian cuisine, and as La Fuga slides into summer, he has concocted some noteworthy menu additions designed to take advantage of seasonal bounty. A great take on a classic starter – Carpaccio di Cantalupo is a lighter dish composed of sliced cantaloupe, prosciutto and arugula with a Dijon-lemon vinaigrette. Primi or main course additions include Gnocchi della Casa – pillowy Italian dumplings served with pesto, oven-roasted tomatoes, creme fraiche and pine nuts; Linguine e Vongole – housemade pasta served with a luscious Verdicchio white wine and clam butter sauce; and Agnolotti con Spinaci e Ricotta – a delicate pasta pouch filled with housemade ricotta and spinach and topped with marinara sauce. All these specials are in addition to La Fuga’s beloved mainstays, including pastas, pizze, carne and pesce.

MUSIC AND VIBES

Since opening, La Fuga has carved a reputation not only for its great food and drink but also as a great place to enjoy music while dining or hanging out at the bar. And Escape has become a go-to destination for talented DJ sets on weekend afternoons. During the month of May, enjoy live music on Thursdays and Saturdays with artists including:
