TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – New data shows that Florida’s drug crisis is improving.
FDLE released a new drug report showing that state opioid deaths dropped 42%.
Fentanyl cases are down 46%.
Governor DeSantis praised the progress Wednesday and urged the state legislature to increase spending for law enforcement so they can take even more drugs off our streets.

“To be able to recruit and maintain good people, it does require resources, but the payoff is good. And this is an example of how that payoff is good in not just making some progress but dramatic progress against fentanyl,” he said.
Lawmakers are still working out the details of the next state budget. Their special session for it is set to last another two weeks.
