TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Bins full of peanut butter and jelly now cover the warehouse floor at Second Harvest of the Big Bend. Leon County School students and the community donated all April to help hungry children this summer.
WCTV will reveal just how much peanut butter and jelly was donated to PBJ PLZ! year ten live during a final weigh-in on Eyewitness News at Noon today. We’ll also share how much money was donated by the community.
Leon County school children were invited to bring jars of peanut butter and jelly to school throughout April and drivers with Second Harvest took to the streets in a specially wrapped truck to pick it up.
Several churches, companies and community groups also jumped in to help, including those who stopped by our PBJ Truck Jam at Publix.
PBJ PLZ! is celebrating its 10th year and, so far, has collected nearly 50 tons of peanut butter and jelly and more than $300,000 for Second Harvest.
This year, our goal is 10 tons of peanut butter and jelly! Together, we have surpassed our $50,000 goal, topping $67,000!
