Among the crowd of thousands of new graduates at Miami University’s May 16 commencement will be three brothers who are also statistical rarities for the school.

The Hargett triplets – born just minutes apart and now all seniors at Miami – will continue their sibling streak of togetherness when all three young men are handed their undergraduate diplomas during graduation ceremonies Saturday at Yager Stadium on the school’s Oxford campus.

The last time Miami saw triplets graduate together was 2023 and the Hargetts, who were raised in Vandalia north of Dayton, are keenly aware of their uniqueness and said they cherish being able to share such an important life milestone.

“It’s a surreal experience and graduation is a full circle moment for us,” said Casey Hargett.

According to Miami officials, Casey, the oldest by two minutes, will graduate with a degree in Supply Chain Management from the Farmer School of Business and will soon begin working in Columbus, Ohio.

Aiden, the second-born, is earning a degree in biochemistry on a pre-med track and will join Casey in Columbus, where he will begin his studies in biophysics at Ohio State University.

Nick is the youngest and has earned a degree in microbiology and will soon move to Cleveland to begin a research internship at the Cleveland Clinic.

They all said the phenomenon of “triplet telepathy” is real and helps to strengthen their emotional bond.

They can sense when a sibling is close by or when they have received the same score on an exam. And during their four years of undergraduate studies, they have enjoyed the moments of seeing one another running on the Oxford campus.

Nick said though the brothers shared a high school graduation, Miami’s commencement will be different because they have each been pursuing their own academic area of studies but now their life paths will again converge for celebration of achievement.

“Compared to our previous (high school) graduation, it’s a lot more special,” said Nick.

Nick said he and Aiden were roommates at Miami and along with Casey “we already had a social network that a lot of people here don’t get.”

“So, we were all sharing jumping into the college dream together and figuring it all out together … and how to navigate life together.”

Aiden reflected on their shared college journey and said “being able to see them (brothers) grow along with my own personal growth has just been an unforgettable experience. It’s super neat.”
