HUDSON, Fla. (CBS12) — A Pasco County man says a tornado ripped the roof off his home Tuesday, as the National Weather Service confirmed two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Florida.

The storms moved through parts of Hudson with little warning, bringing strong winds that left a trail of damage in their wake. While no serious injuries have been reported, residents described sudden and intense conditions.

Bruce Markey, who lives in Hudson, said the storm hit quickly and violently.

“A huge gust came and basically pushed the door shut on me. And then I heard a loud [noise], and the roof was gone,” Markey said.

He added that the damage extended beyond his home.

“It hit my son’s truck, blew out his windshield,” he said.

Officials say EF-0 tornadoes are considered the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita scale, with winds typically ranging from 65 to 85 miles per hour. Even so, they can cause significant localized damage, especially to roofs, vehicles, and trees.

Crews are continuing to assess the extent of the damage in Pasco County, while residents begin cleanup efforts.
