ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The St. Petersburg Police Department needs help identifying three men who may have information regarding a brutal attack.

The attack took place in the 200 block of 1st Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

On May 10 at 2:25 p.m., a 34-year-old man was punched and rendered unconscious, according to the department.

Video taken the night of the attack shows the suspect as he attempts to attack a bystander immediately following the incident.

“The three people of interest and the victim were talking. The victim turns around, walked away. We don’t know the extent of that conversation. And then one of the guys followed him, punched him, and then kind of some another bystander attempted to look like he attempted to intervene. And then he tried to also hit him as well. He did not end up hitting him,” said Ashley Limardo with SPPD.

Fortunately, the bystander was uninjured, St Petersburg police report.

Police want to hear from the three men involved, though one resident told 8 On Your Side she doesn’t think it’s likely they’ll come forward.

“Turn themselves in? I would say probably not likely. And who knows? They could be just tourists passing through and think they can get away with anything,” said Julie Murray, a resident.

Limardo said the victim had to get stitches and called 911 from the hospital.

Investigators are looking for three men who may have details about the attack.

“We don’t want anyone to ever think that you can come here and this is what you do. Every there are consequences to everyone’s actions,” said Limardo.
