TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — State Senator Ed Hooper, who’s on the Joint Legislative Budget Commission, announced Wednesday that he is resigning in November.

In a pair of letters sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis and fellow senators, he says it’s been a great honor to represent Pasco and Pinellas counties for the last eight years as state senator.

He also spoke about his role as senate appropriations chairman.

“Thank you all for the valuable support, time and flexibility you provided during the budget process,” Hooper said in the statement.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco stated on X that he plans to run for the post.
