FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—A car slammed into a Fort Myers home early Thursday morning, and the family inside walked away without a scratch.
The woman behind the wheel is now accused of driving drunk. The moment before she rammed into the home was caught on camera.
Mario Ledesma was sitting at his kitchen counter when his breakfast shifted gears. The crash happened at his home on Fordham Street in The Villas.
“Just around 5 o’clock a.m., exactly 5 o’clock, I then started to hear like just some noise,” Ledesma said. “It was loud and it was hard.”
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says Brooke Hirsch was driving home from Fort Myers Beach drunk. They say she fell asleep at the wheel, waking up in the Laguna’s garage instead of her own.

“I actually thought I was actually having a dream at first, for a moment, and then about like a second later, I was thinking to myself, like, is this actually real,” Ledesma said.
His mom and little brother were sleeping when the crash happened. With the car now in the kitchen, Ledesma did what anyone in their shoes would do—he invited Hirsch inside.
“She actually needed to go use the restroom right here, so we allowed her to do that,” Ledesma said. “And then after that, we just wanted for her to just explain, like, why, how this happened, and she just stated simply that she fell asleep.”
Hirsch is now charged with DUI, DUI with property damage and refusing to submit testing.
The Laguna family is staying somewhere else for the time being and are thankful everyone is okay, including the suspect.
