LSU baseball fell 11-8 to Florida on Thursday to open its final SEC series of the regular season.
The Gators got out to a hot start, scoring six runs in the first inning. They held LSU scoreless until the bottom of the third. Derek Curiel hit an RBI double and Arrambide followed with an RBI single to make the score 6-3.
Florida slowly extended its lead throughout the rest of the contest, scoring a run in the fourth and the fifth innings. Steven Milam got the TIgers closer with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, making the score 8-4.
After allowing three runs through the seventh and eighth to go down by six, LSU put together a rally. It got a homer from Omar Serna and two runs via walks with the bases loaded in the eighth inning. Milam came through with an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the Tigers within three but they got no closer.
Danny Lachenmayer took the loss after giving up six runs in the first inning. The Tigers used seven pitchers.

A groundout to first base ended the game. LSU put up a fight late in the game but couldn’t overcome a first-inning outburst by the Gators.

Braun lead off with a single then Serna’s fly ball to left field was misplayed. Braun got to third base and Serna pulled into second. Curiel is up to bat with nobody out and two runners in scoring position.

The Gators had two runners on but LSU got out of the gym thanks to two plays on grounders by Milam at shortstop.
Braun, Serna and Curiel are scheduled to hit for the Tigers.

Curiel walked then got to second on an error, which allowed Milam to reach base. Seth Dardar, who pinch hit for Pearson, was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

After hitting a leadoff double, Pearson got stranded at second base. Stanfield nearly had an extra base hit but Florida ran down his fly ball at the wall for the inning’s final out.

The Tigers’ third baseman led off the bottom of the fourth with a double. He’s in scoring position with nobody out.

The Gators extended their lead on an RBI single. Ricken got two strikeouts in the frame.
Pearson, Jack Ruckert and Tanner Reaves will bat in the bottom half of the fourth.

Arrambide recorded an RBI single to score Curiel. Milam grounded into a double play to end the inning but the Tigers cut their deficit in half.

Curiel sent an RBI double down the right field line to plate Braun. With Curiel at second base and one out, Arrambide is batting.

Stanfield scored on a wild pitch for the Tigers’ first run of the game. Braun got to second base then advanced to third on Serna’s groundout. He’s in scoring position with Curiel up to bat.

Stanfield singled to the left side and got to third base on Braun’s single up the middle. The Tigers have runners at the corners with nobody out and Serna at the plate.
