FSU baseball run-rules Miami to clinch series

For the second time this week, FSU walked off Miami. Gabe Fraser was the hero, hitting an RBI single through the right side of the infield to score Brody DeLammielleure and give FSU the 11-1 win and trigger the run-rule.

FSU had not scored since the fourth inning, despite getting numerous base runners. Cal Fisher changed that in the bottom of the eighth inning, driving in two runs with an RBI single to blow the game open.

Miami was trying to get back into the game in the eighth, putting runners at the corners with just one out against Brodie Purcell. He got one batter to fly out into foul territory before ending the inning with a strikeout, his fifth of the night in two innings of work.

FSU left another runner on base in the seventh inning as Ben Barrett was robbed of a double by Miami’s right fielder, who caught the ball right at the wall. While the infield has struggled, Miami’s outfield has made several nice plays in the game.

Brodie Purcell kept it going after replacing Trey Beard to start the seventh, striking out the side on 15 pitches. Miami has struck out 11 times this game, with just four hits and a walk.

Trey Beard’s day is done after allowing one run in six innings, with Brodie Purcell taking over to start the seventh inning. Beard did not allow a run after giving up a solo home run in the first, getting eight strikeouts.

Carter McCulley worked a one-out walk before stealing second, but that is where he ended up as FSU stranded him. They have left 13 runners on base, but still lead by five after six innings. Cal Fisher had a 14-pitch at-bat in the inning.

Hunter Cars continued his great day by throwing out a Miami base stealer, ending the top of the sixth inning. Trey Beard has allowed one run on four hits and a walk, striking out eight batters,

FSU once again loaded the bases in the fifth, thanks to three walks. They once again failed to score, with Gabe Fraser flying out to strand all three, they have now stranded 12 base runners through five innings.

Ttey Beard escaped a jam in the fifth inning to keep FSU up 6-1 vs. Miami. Brody DeLamielleure made a good play on a ball off the wall to hold Miami to a single before an error by Carter McCulley put runners at the corners with one out. A strikeout and a flyout ended the inning and stranded them both.

Florida State is threatening to blow the game completely open, but has not been able to make it happen. They scored one run in the fourth on a fielder’s choice with an error, their second of the inning. It is the second straight inning they have left the bases loaded.

Trey Beard had another perfect inning in the top of the fourth, getting two more strikeouts. He has allowed one run on two hits and a walk with six strikeouts on 65 pitches.

The Seminoles had a chance to blow the game wide open in the third, but Brayden Dowd grounded out to leave the bases loaded. FSU scored two runs in the inning on one hit, taking advantage of a hit-by-pitch and three walks from Miami.

The Seminoles have taken a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a bases-loaded walk by John Stuetzer with two outs. Brayden Dowd is due up for FSU when Miami’s new pitcher is ready.

Florida State added another run in the bottom of the fourth with Hunter Carns hitting a leadoff home run in the third inning. It is his second homer in the series.

Miami got one runner on in the third inning with a two-out infield single, but that was all as Trey Beard got another grounder to end the inning. Miami has stranded two runners through three innings.

FSU has added some breathing room, thanks to a two-out single from Brayden Dowd. Miami made an error on a grounder by John Stuetzer, extending the inning. The Seminoles had three hits in the inning.

The Seminoles have taken the lead in the second inning thanks to a two-out single by Cal Fisher, scoring Eli Putnam. FSu has two hits in the inning.

The Seminoles have tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Carter McCulley, who drove in Gabe Fraser, who was hit by a pitch and got to third on a single by Eli Putnam.

Trey Beard has looked much better after the home run and walk in the first, retiring the next five batters he has faced, with three via strikeout. He has thrown 35 pitches so far, including 21 strikes.

The Seminoles nearly got on the board in the bottom of the first, but Miami’s left field made a great catch on the wall, robbing Hunter Carns of extra bases and potentially a two-run homer. Brayden Dowd worked a one-out walk in the inning.

Trey Beard gave up a solo home run and walked the next batter in the top of the first, forcing FSU pitching coach Micah Posey to visit him. He responded perfectly, striking out the next two batters to end the inning and keep it a 1-0 game.
