In the 1999 yearbook, the page labeled “Living it Up” mentions “Nu Around the World.” The page wrote that this annual party was unregistered, meaning our beloved Omega Around the World party started at Nu.

In the Eckerd Library archives, a yearbook from 1994 reveals all the daytime fun and nightlife from students. Similar to our Dorm Olympics now, a photo of the Funlympics included a flipper race where students wore diving flippers and snorkel masks to race against each other on the field.

In the same yearbook, a page labeled “Zeta Halloween 1993” displayed students in creative group and solo costumes who competed in a Halloween costume contest. Zeta didn’t always host the Zeta Zoo but previously was the host for the Halloween party.

The 1981 yearbook included a homecoming event called “Guys & Dolls,” where men dressed in 1920s style flapper wear, and women dressed in 1920s style suits and hats complete with faux bears and pearls for the “ladies.” It looks similar to Eckerd’s Kappa Ball tradition after the Spring Ball, where guys wear their date’s dresses and women dress in lingerie.

In the 1991 yearbook, a page of pictures labeled “Delta Boxer Shorts Party” showed men dressed in lingerie and delicate lace with robes while some sport boxer shorts with no shirts. Women in the picture also seem to participate in the theme dressing in boxer shorts too. Even more entertaining, the “Blakely Auction” page shows men dressed in their finest attire posing and performing for students at this party. The endgame of this party theme seems to be left unsaid.
