The No. 9-seeded Florida State Seminoles softball team is set to play the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in the Tallahassee Regional on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Florida. It is an elimination game for both teams.
FSU (49-9) lost to the Stetson Hatters 8-3 on Friday in the first game of the regional. The Seminoles never led in the game and struggled to get anything going. They finished the game with seven hits and three walks, going 1-12 with runners on and 0-6 with runners in scoring position as they were unable to get back into the game.
The Seminoles became just the third national seed to lose their regional opener by four or more runs since 2005, joining Northwestern (2009) and UCLA (2012), neither of whom were able to advance to the super regionals. The Seminoles have advanced to the Super Regional round in 11 of the past 12 NCAA Tournaments.
