TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M University held the annual North Florida Homeless/At-Risk Veterans Stand Down event on Friday and Saturday this week to fight against veteran homelessness.
It was held at the Al Lawson Center with a wide variety of activities and support services. President of the Tallahassee Veteran Organization (TVO) Donna Carroll Barron said in a press release that they work hard to make the event happen.
“We are very proud of the work that has been done over the years for the men and women who have so bravely served our country – and now need a little help,” Barron said.

Services included free legal advice, disability claim preparation, free haircuts, free veterinary care (for cats and dogs), health screenings and social services.
It took place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
According to organizers, the event drew more than 60 providers who served over 300 veterans and caregivers at last year’s event.
