FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — A candlelight memorial Saturday evening in Fort Pierce honored Lauren Rogers, who was killed in a wrong-way crash on Florida’s Turnpike along with her 3-year-old son.
The service will take place at 6 p.m. at the Fort Pierce Jetty at 2098 Seaway Drive. Loved ones are asking attendees to bring candles as they gather to remember Rogers and her children.
In a post to Facebook, the family shared that attendees are invited to continue to come together and share laughs and memories at Erin’s Irish Pub in Fort Pierce, with 10% of the pub’s proceeds going to Lauren’s family and children.
Family members say the 26-year-old mother of two died at the scene of the May 9 crash near mile marker 173.5. Florida Highway Patrol said she was driving a 2025 Kia K4 southbound in the northbound inside lane when she collided head-on with a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, sparking a chain-reaction crash involving a third vehicle.

Her son, Kylo, was critically injured and later died on Thursday at 9:02 a.m., according to the family. Her 5-year-old son, Korbin, survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Several other people were hurt, including the driver of the Chrysler, a 22-year-old man, and three passengers. Troopers said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Friends say Rogers was deeply devoted to her children.
“She was very present with the way that the kids were talking, what they liked, how they thought, what they wanted,” close friend Alexa June Baker told CBS12 News.
Rogers’ father previously said, “They were her life. That was her life.”
