Jacksonville-area police news for May 18, 2026

• A 17-year-old boy was arrested at 8:47 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Chambers Street on a domestic battery charge. He was accused of pushing and spitting on a family member, according to a police report.

• Police were called at 4:57 p.m. Saturday to a disturbance in the 700 block of East Chambers Street. Those involved were separated.

• Police were called at 3:37 p.m. Saturday to a disturbance at Jacksonville Public Library, 201 W. College Ave., involving a report of  a man passed out in the children’s book area and making people uncomfortable. The man declined medical treatment and left, according to a police report.

• Police were called at 12:52 p.m. Saturday to a disturbance in the 700 block of East Chambers Street. Those involved were separated.

• Police were called at 10:57 a.m. Saturday to a disturbance at Jacksonville Public Library, 201 W. College Ave., involving a man and woman arguing in the parking lot. Those involved were separated.

• Police were called at 4:44 a.m. Saturday to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Beesley Avenue. Those involved separated before officers arrived.

• Police were called at 2:30 a.m. Saturday to a disturbance in the 800 block of South Clay Avenue. Those involved were separated.

• Police were called at 12:56 a.m. Saturday to a disturbance at West Diamond Alley and South West Street. Those involved were separated.

• Police were called at 11:39 p.m. Friday to a disturbance at Casey’s General Store, 525 E. Morton Ave., that involved a report of someone being pepper-sprayed. Those involved left before officers arrived, according to a police report.

• A 21-year-old Loudon, Tennessee, man was cited on a charge of improper lane use after his car struck a telephone pole in the 700 block of South Clay Avenue about 10:07 p.m. Friday.

• Someone entered a residence in the 1000 block of South East Street and opened a package, according to a report filed at 5:51 p.m. Friday.

• Flowers were damaged in a yard in the 500 block of West Walnut Street, according to a report filed at 7:29 p.m. Saturday.

• Two tires were slashed on a van in the 600 block of North West Street, according to a report filed at 6:16 p.m. Saturday.

• Something was thrown from a car and hit another vehicle on South Diamond Street, according to a report filed at 11:51 a.m. Friday.
