Semitruck driver hit several cars before leaving Orlando scene

A truck driver was arrested after witnesses said he drove down a residential street in Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood, hit several cars, and took off. Quana and her husband Craig, were attending a street party Saturday night along McFall Avenue near South Street when it all unfolded.”We were having a good time, and next thing you know, we heard a bunch of people just screaming like, ‘Stop! Stop! Stop that guy. Catch him! Go get him,'” Quana said.She shared a video with WESH 2 News of the scene, showing the truck driving past a crowd of people before it can be heard hitting at least one parked vehicle.”We heard him hitting the first car. Then we heard another car. And then we heard more cars. And then by the time then I wanted to whip out the camera because he looked like he was not stopping at all,” Quana said.The truck driver, the couple said, did not appear to be in much of a hurry to stop.”I guess maybe he hit one car and was like, ‘Hey, the heck with this. I need to go. I need to run. I need to flee.’ But he was actually about to hit us in the making,” Quana said.Orlando police arrested 32-year-old Rakeem Williams not too far from the scene, according to a court document obtained by WESH 2 News. He’s charged with leaving the scene of a crash. He was also given a ticket for hit-and-run involving damage.”That was a dangerous, serious situation for all of us, honestly,” Quana said.The couple is still trying to understand why the suspect drove down a narrow residential street in the first place.”Me being a CDL driver of 10 years, I would have never, ever tried to make that turn on a residential street,” Craig said.”He pretty much made him a big, huge mistake,” Quana said.As of Sunday afternoon, Williams remained in the Orange County jail. WESH 2 News reached out to the company that owns the truck, but has not yet heard back.
