JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Officials with the Jacksonville Police Department said a child died after a Sunday night shooting.
Officials said the six-year-old was in a vehicle and was “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds” when officers arrived. First aid was given, they said, and the child was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two adults in the car were not injured, police reported.
Officers found the victim after being called out at 7:30 p.m. to the 4000 block of South Highway 161 for a report of shots fired.
Police officials said the incident is an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
