PORT ST. LUCIE – A friend of a family with six children who lost their home in a fire on May 15 has started a Go Fund Me page with a goal of $8,000.
At about 7:15 a.m., on May 15, St. Lucie County Fire-District crews responded to a house fire near the corner of Southwest Irving Street and Southwest Ray Avenue in Port St. Lucie. Crews found the fire visible from the rear of the house and multiple rooms on fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire while surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution, according to a Facebook posting by the St. Lucie County Fire-District.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross was requested to assist the residents of the burnt-out home, but the family is in need of more permanent housing, according to a GoFundMe posting written by Jane Lorevil, who identifies the mother as Wislande Francois Saintil in the GoFundMe posting.
“My friend is a loving wife and mother to six wonderful children, as well as a dedicated Publix employee who has always gone above and beyond for her family and her community. Recently, her life was turned upside down when a devastating fire destroyed her home,” Lorevil said in the posting. “In a matter of moments, she and her children lost everything — their house, their clothes, and the sense of security they worked so hard to build.”
“The funds raised will help provide temporary housing, replace essential items, and give her family the stability they need to start over,” Lorevil said in the posting.
As of May 18, a total of $1,910 has been donated.
